Mission
Our mission is to cultivate sustainable, organic produce that enriches local communities, promotes environmental responsibility, and fosters minority empowerment within the agricultural industry.
Problem
There is a growing disconnect between consumers and the origin of their food, compounded by limited access to fresh, organic produce in many urban and rural communities. Additionally, minority representation in sustainable agriculture remains disproportionately low, limiting opportunities for economic empowerment and community development.
Solution
Earth To Table Farms LLC addresses these challenges by operating both urban and rural organic farms that supply fresh, locally grown, and environmentally friendly produce. We prioritize minority involvement and provide pathways for economic inclusion through training and employment in sustainable farming practices.
A study has shown that food in the U.S.A. travels on average 1300 miles from the farm to the table, in transit it consumes 10 calories of fossil fuel while only producing 1 calorie of today’s supermarket food.
Fruits and vegetables sold in supermarkets spend one to two weeks in transit. Spoilage of up to 50% occurs during its transport.
An increase in property values have been demonstrated where community gardens are in close proximity.
Community garden provide an oasis for community members
Community gardens have increased opportunities for employment, education and entrepreneurship.
Community gardens offer families without land an opportunity to produce food and learn from seasoned gardeners.
Community gardens allow access to fresh produce in areas where nutritious food is not readily available, such as low income or poverty stricken locals
It is with this in mind that Love Outreach Church in conjunction with Earth to Table Ministries and the Chicago Park District’s Community Garden’s in the Parks program look to fulfil its mission of address hunger in the North Lawndale Community.
